ISTANBUL (AA) - Cuba faced a nationwide blackout following the failure of its main energy plant, leaving its 10 million residents without power, according to reports.
The energy ministry reported that the power grid collapsed on Friday, BBC reported.
The island has been dealing with prolonged blackouts for months, which led the prime minister to declare an "energy emergency" on Thursday.
Cuba’s president, Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez, stated that the situation was his "absolute priority."
"There will be no rest until power is restored," he said on X.
