ANBAR, Iraq (AA) – Three Iraqi civilians were abducted by suspected Daesh militants in the western Anbar province, according to a local police officer on Tuesday.
The three were kidnapped in the Rutba city, west of Ramadi, the provincial capital of Anbar province, and were taken to an unidentified location, Capt. Ahmed al-Dulaimi told Anadolu Agency.
“Government forces have launched a manhunt for the captors and to free the abductees,” he said.
Last December, officials in Baghdad declared that Daesh’s military presence had been all but destroyed.
It appears, however, that the notorious terrorist group still maintains an active presence in parts of northern and western Iraq.
