ANKARA (AA) - Daniel Hackett has left CSKA Moscow, citing family and personal reasons, the club tweeted Wednesday.

The Russian basketball team said Hackett leaving is related to the current situation between Russia and Ukraine and its possible consequences.

Hackett, 34, joined the Moscow team in 2018.

The former NBA player helped CSKA Moscow win their eighth Turkish Airlines EuroLeague title in 2019.

The Italian-American is rumored to be eyeing Italian club Virtus Bologna in the coming days.

Since Russia's war on Ukraine began last Thursday, it has been met by outrage from the international community, with the EU, UK and US implementing a range of economic sanctions on Russia.

At least 136 civilians, including 13 children, have been killed and 400 others, including 26 children, injured in Ukraine, according to UN figures.

At least 650,000 people fled to the EU since the start of the war, according to the European Commission’s estimates.
