ISTANBUL (AA) - Danish footballer Christian Eriksen played for the first time since suffering cardiac arrest last June in a match.
Eriksen, 30, came off the bench to replace his compatriot Mathias Jensen in the 52nd minute for 10-man Brentford in a 2-0 loss against Newcastle United.
Brentford were down a man after Josh Dasilva was shown a red card in minute 11.
Joelinton and Joseph Willock scored for Newcastle at Brentford Community Stadium.
Inter Milan terminated Eriksen’s contract by mutual consent in December because of medical issues related to the cardiac arrest he suffered during the EURO 2020 Group B match against Finland.
He has not played since his collapse but the English Premier League club inked a contract with Eriksen on a free transfer in January.
The Danish midfielder was a three-time Dutch champion with Ajax and helped Inter win the 2021 Italian Serie A title.
