ISTANBUL (AA) - IO Interactive, Danish video game developer behind the Hitman series, has opened a new studio in Türkiye’s biggest city Istanbul, it said in a statement on Wednesday.
“We are excited to announce the opening of our fourth IOI studio in Istanbul, Türkiye. Uniquely positioned in the pan-continental gateway to Europe and Asia, IOI Istanbul is a crucial part in the continued growth and success of IO Interactive,” the press release said.
The company, which has been in the game development scene for over 20 years, said the "mission of IOI Istanbul is to establish a hub for AAA game development in the region," referring to high-budget titles.
The new studio is located in the bustling Maslak neighborhood of Sariyer district.
“Our team in Istanbul will play a significant role in our ambitious productions: Project 007, Project Fantasy and HITMAN,” the developer said in reference to its upcoming games.
Besides Hitman, the studio has released many successful titles including the Kane & Lynch franchises, and Freedom Fighters.
IO Interactive was first established in Copenhagen in 1998. It has studios in Malmo, Sweden and Barcelona as well.
