TUNIS, Tunisia (AA) – Tunisia’s presidential polls, until now scheduled for Nov. 10, have been rescheduled within that month, with new dates to be announced within hours, a member of the Tunisian official electoral committee told Anadolu Agency on Friday.
Anis Al-Jarboui added that the new date of the polls is expected to be on Nov. 3 or Nov. 17.
The change came at the request of a Tunisian NGO, which pointed out that Nov. 10 coincides with the celebration of the birth of the Prophet Muhammed in the central city of Kairouan in Muslim-majority Tunisia.
