BORZO EGNAZIA, Italy (AA) – Day two of a G7 summit hosted kicked off in southern Italy on Friday, hosted by Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.
The day started with a session on irregular migration by the leaders of the G7 and the European Union.
A session on Africa, the Mediterranean, AI and energy is also scheduled, with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan set to take part.
During that session, both Erdogan and Pope Francis are expected to deliver speeches.
The day will end with a dinner by Meloni for the world leaders in a castle in the harbor city of Brindisi, near Borzo Egnazia, the site of the summit.
US President Joe Biden will reportedly not attend the dinner, after also skipping Thursday’s dinner with world leaders. No reason was given on Thursday for his skipping the event.
