ANKARA (AA) – A moment of magic from Kevin De Bruyne gave Manchester City a 1-0 win against Chelsea on Saturday, further tightening their grip on the Premier League title.
With 20 minutes left at the Etihad Stadium, the Belgian curled in a spectacular drive past keeper Kepa Arrizabalaga to seal City’s 12th consecutive league victory.
Pep Guardiola’s men now have an imposing lead at the top of the table as they surge toward back-to-back titles.
While Chelsea were in the game throughout, they did not manage to create enough chances.
Their best opportunity came in the second half, when Mateo Kovacic played Romelu Lukaku through on goal, but his shot was saved by Ederson and Hakim Ziyech blazed over the bar on the follow up.
The result leaves Thomas Tuchel’s side 13 points adrift of City in second spot, and they could slip further down as third-placed Liverpool are just a point behind with two games in hand.
