BEIRUT (AA) – Israeli warplanes launched fresh airstrikes in southern Lebanon on Tuesday amid reports of fatalities, according to Lebanese media.
Fighter jets struck a home in the town of Debaal in Tyre, leaving several people dead and injured, the state news agency NNA reported.
Israeli artillery also shelled the towns of Naqoura, Labbouneh, Yohmor al-Chaqif, Toul, Arnoun, and the outskirts of Alma al-Shaab, NNA said.
No information was yet available about casualties.
An Israeli drone also hit a café in Merouaniyeh town, injuring several people, the same broadcaster said.
Israel has escalated its air campaign in Lebanon since late September against what it claims are targets of Hezbollah in an escalation from year-long cross-border warfare between Israel and the Lebanese group since the start of Israel’s brutal offensive on the Gaza Strip on Oct. 7, 2023.
More than 3,200 people have been killed and over 14,000 injured in Israeli attacks since October 2023, according to Lebanese health authorities.
Israel expanded the conflict by launching an incursion into southern Lebanon on Oct. 1 this year.
