MERSIN, Türkiye (AA) – A premature baby who was born at 600 grams in Türkiye has made a slow but steady recovery.
Eylul was delivered at 22 weeks at a hospital in the southern province of Mersin. A full-term pregnancy is at least 37 weeks long.
She was put in an incubator as she suffered from respiratory failure and hypoplasia, a health condition where organs or tissues are underdeveloped.
After 132 days of receiving meticulous medical attention, she was discharged from hospital.
Dr. Mustafa Akcali said when Eylul was born she had only 1% chance of survival.
“We did our best, she is very lucky,” he said.
The parents said they were eternally thankful to the doctors and nurses for saving their baby's life.
