COPENHAGEN, Denmark (AA) – Denmark on Tuesday announced a minor shuffle in the Cabinet as the ministers of economy and defense swapped their portfolios
The swap was made after Jakob Ellemann-Jensen expressed his desire to swap his portfolio with economy after finding the job too time-consuming along with leading his party, said a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office.
The current economy minister – Troels Lund Poulsen – will take the charge of defense minister. The changes will be effective from Tuesday. Meanwhile, Ellemann-Jensn, who also leads the Liberal Party in the coalition government, will maintain the post of deputy prime minister. He recently returned to office after taking a six-month leave.
Ellemann-Jensen said that he is leaving the defense portfolio because the current role requires his “full focus and a completely dedicated effort” in light of Denmark’s position in the Russia-Ukraine war. He also highlighted “significant cleanup” in the ministry’s organization.
