ISLAMABAD - Pakistan's top court set to announce verdict on Friday on new legislation that had clipped some key powers of the chief justice of the Supreme Court. Chief justice has the powers that he can take cognizance of any issue of public interest and hold any government institution accountable for it. But the amended law clips such individual powers from the country's top judge. The supreme court had put the legislation on hold.

SEOUL - Monitoring aftermath of tropical Typhoon Khanun as it lashed parts of South Korea and Japan and is expected to hit China. At least one was killed and another is missing in South Korea while over a dozen people were injured in Japan due to heavy rains and winds which also affected electricity and communications in Japan and forced flight cancellations across South Korea.

DHAKA - Monitoring aftermath as monsoon rains lashed southeastern parts of Bangladesh, resulting in death of at least 29 people while nine others are still missing. Some 1.2 million people, including displaced Rohingya community, in Chattogram and Cox's Bazar districts have been affected due to monsoons.
