Saudi Arabia hosts Arab-Islamic Summit

Riyadh to host Arab-Islamic Summit on Monday to address the continued Israeli aggression against Palestine and Lebanon.

The summit is expected to discuss concrete decisions aimed at implementing the resolutions from the 2023 summit and halting Israeli attacks on Gaza, the West Bank, Lebanon, and other countries in the region.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will also attend the summit.

Medics said three more people were killed and several others injured Sunday in an Israeli airstrike in the Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza.

A child was also killed and his parents were injured when an Israeli drone targeted them in the Sheikh Radwan neighborhood in northern Gaza City, a medical source said Sunday.

At least 51 more Palestinians were killed in Israeli attacks in the Gaza Strip, bringing the overall death toll since last year to 43,603, the Health Ministry in the enclave said on Sunday.

Pravind Kumar Jugnauth of the Militant Socialist Movement party is seeking reelection a month after the UK ceded sovereignty of the Chagos Islands to Mauritius following a long time dispute.



Japan elects 103rd prime minister

Lawmakers in Japan to elect 103rd prime minister. The members of lower house of the Japanese parliament will vote to elect prime minister following Oct. 27 general elections which threw up a hung parliament. Ruling Liberal Democratic Party leader Shigeru Ishiba is likely to retain the premier’s position after securing support from a third small party, pushing numbers above 233, least required to form a government.


Indonesian President Prabowo lands in US after China trip

Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto lands in the US as part of his first overseas trip since his inauguration last month. He began his multi-national tour from China where he held wide ranging talks with President Xi Jinping and other senior officials. In Washington, he will meet with the outgoing US President Joe Biden. It remains unclear whether he meets President-elect Donald Trump.

Seoul and Pyongyang are expected to react to the ongoing developments on Korean Peninsula. Pyongyang is also expected to react to Russia’s ratification of comprehensive strategic partnership treaty with North Korea. The ratification comes amid claims by South Korea that Pyongyang has deployed thousands of soldiers to Moscow which is in war with Ukraine. The bilateral treaty provides for the immediate provision of military and other assistance if either Moscow or Pyongyang is subjected to an armed attack by a 3rd party.

Türkiye’s industrial production

Turkish Statistical Institute to reveal industrial production figures for September. Türkiye's industrial production dropped 5.3% on a yearly basis in August. Among sub-sectors, both the mining and quarrying index and the manufacturing index slipped 5.4%, while the electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply index rose 1.6% over the same period.


Türkiye’s unemployment

Türkiye's unemployment rate declined 0.3 percentage points to 8.5% in August compared to the previous month, while the number of unemployed individuals aged 15 and above fell by 89,000 to 3.05 million.


UK’s unemployment

The UK will share unemployment data for September. It was at 4% in August and market expects no change for September.


Germany’s inflation

Germany’s Destatis to reveal annual inflation figures for October. It increased to 2% in September from 1.6% in August. A slight increase can be seen in October.
