ICC arrest warrants against Israeli premier, ex-defense chief

More international and regional reactions over arrest warrants issued against Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant by the International Criminal Court (ICC).

In a landmark move, the ICC’s Pre-Trial Chamber I on Thursday announced it had issued the warrants over alleged war crimes in the Palestinian territories, including Gaza.

Israeli military analyst Amos Harel, writing for the daily Haaretz on Friday, argued that the warrants could pave the way for a global arms embargo against Tel Aviv.

Israel’s genocidal war on Gaza

In its second year, the ongoing Israeli genocidal war in the Gaza Strip continues to claim the lives of more Palestinians and worsen their living conditions.

At least 32 Palestinians were killed and scores more injured Friday in a series of Israeli airstrikes targeting homes and makeshift shelters for displaced people across the strip.

A senior health official in Gaza warned that local hospitals may cease or reduce services within 48 hours due to Israel's blockade of fuel shipments — crucial to keep health facilities' generators running.

"Hospitals will stop working or reduce their services within 48 hours due to the Israeli military's obstruction of fuel supplies," Marwan al-Hams, head of field hospitals in Gaza, told the media.

Israel's escalating blockade, ground invasion in northern Gaza Strip

Israel's incursion and bombardment of the northern Gaza Strip, taking place since Oct. 5, have exacerbated shortages of food, water, fuel, and medicine, leaving most of the local population on the verge of imminent famine.

More than 2,000 people have since been killed, according to Palestinian health authorities.

Amid ongoing attacks and targeting of hospitals in the area, director of Kamal Adwan Hospital Hussam Abu Safiya has urged the international community to step in and save northern Gaza before it is too late.

Israeli aggression in Lebanon

Israel's ongoing attacks on Lebanon and the Hezbollah group's targeting of Israel with rockets and drones.

Amid continued Israeli airstrikes across Lebanon, the Israeli army issued on Friday fresh evacuation orders to residents in two areas of Beirut's southern suburbs and five villages in southern Lebanon.

At least five medics were killed in southern Lebanon Friday in two separate Israeli airstrikes, according to the Lebanese Health Ministry.

Hezbollah rocket attacks continue to strike areas in northern Israel in response to the country's airstrikes on Lebanon. On Friday, the Israeli army detected 10 more rockets launched from Lebanon toward settlements in northern Israel.

Israel's violations against UN peacekeeping mission in Lebanon

The UN Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) continues to face attacks amid ongoing Israeli ground operations in southern Lebanon.

On Friday, a rocket attack on a UNIFIL base in southern Lebanon injured four Italian soldiers, Italian media reported.

The soldiers were only slightly injured when two rockets launched from within Lebanon hit their camp, the public broadcaster RAI reported.

Lebanon cease-fire efforts

Developments related to ongoing efforts to draft a cease-fire agreement between Israel and Lebanon.

Scandals involving Israeli Premier Netanyahu's office

Several unfolding scandals and leaked documents have been linked to the office of Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu.

Israel's State Prosecution filed a "serious" indictment Thursday against Netanyahu aide Eli Feldstein, the main suspect in the leak case.

Israeli Broadcasting Corporation KAN said the state prosecution at the Tel Aviv Central Court submitted a "grave" charge against Feldstein and military personnel. Accused of compromising state security, they are being investigated over a security documents scandal that has roiled Netanyahu’s Office in recent weeks.

The indictment against Feldstein included charges of "transferring classified information with the intent to harm the state, as well as illicit possession of classified information and obstruction of justice."

West Bank raids

Israel’s almost daily military raids on Palestinian cities and towns in occupied West Bank and illegal settler violence against Palestinians and their property.

Defense Minister Israel Katz announced Friday the suspension of the issuance of administrative arrest warrants for illegal settlers accused of attacking Palestinians in the West Bank.

Such arrest warrants are rare, but Katz, known for his far-right views, is the first defense minister to refuse issuing administrative detention orders for illegal settlers.

Israel has killed over 795 people in the West Bank since October last year, including 160 children, and injured nearly 6,450 others, with over 11,700 taken into custody.
