ISTANBUL (AA) - The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed lower Tuesday as US stocks finished the day on a mixed note.
The blue-chip index lost 96.82 points, or 0.25%, to finish the session at 38,972.41
The S&P 500, on the other hand, increased 8.65 points, or 0.17%, to 5,078.18.
The Nasdaq, meanwhile, rose 59.05 points, or 0.37%, to end the day at 16,035.30.
The VIX volatility index, also known as the fear index, fell 2.3% to 13.43. The 10-year US Treasury yield rose 0.1% to 4.303%.
The dollar index was unchanged at 103.81, while the euro was also flat at $1.0845 against the greenback.
Precious metals were down, with gold losing 0.04% to $2,030 per ounce and silver decreasing 0.2% to $22.48.
Oil prices were higher, with global benchmark Brent crude adding 0.8% to $82.33 per barrel and US benchmark West Texas Intermediate crude rising 1.2% to $78.56.
