ISTANBUL (AA) - The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed lower for the third consecutive trading day as US stocks posted losses Wednesday.
The blue-chip index lost 23 points, or 0.06%, to finish the session at 38,949.
The S&P 500 lost eight points, or 0.17%, to end at 5,069. The Nasdaq fell 87 points, or 0.55%, to end the day at 15,947.
The VIX volatility index, also known as the fear index, rose 3% to 13.84. The 10-year US Treasury yield fell 1.1% to 4.266%.
The dollar index added 0.11% to 103.94, while the euro was flat at $1.0837 against the greenback.
Precious metals were mixed, with gold rising 0.2% to $2,034 per ounce but silver steady at $22.46.
Oil prices were also mixed, with global benchmark Brent crude unchanged at $81.86 per barrel but US benchmark West Texas Intermediate crude falling 0.7% to $78.30.
