ISTANBUL (AA) - The Dow Jones Industrial Average recorded its worst daily performance since March as US stock exchanges closed Tuesday with steep losses.
The blue-chip index lost 388 points, or 1.14%, to end the session at 33,618.
The S&P 500 dove 63 points, or 1.47%, to finish at 4,273. The Nasdaq, meanwhile, plummeted 207 points, or 1.57%, to 13,063.
The VIX volatility index, also known as the fear index, jumped 12.1% to 18.94. The 10-year US Treasury yield rose 0.1% to 4.550%.
The dollar index was up 0.17% to 106.18, while the euro decreased 0.18% to $1.0571 against the greenback.
Precious metals were in the red, with gold losing 0.8% to $1,900 per ounce and silver decreasing 1.2% to $22.85.
Oil prices gained around 0.8%, with global benchmark Brent crude at $92.51 per barrel and US benchmark West Texas Intermediate crude at $90.53.
