ISTANBUL (AA) - The Dow Jones soared more than 400 points on Monday as US stock exchanges closed the first trading day of the week with gains.
The Dow jumped 407 points, or 1.16%, to finish the day at 35,473. The blue-chip index recorded its best single-day performance in seven weeks.
The S&P 500 was up 40 points, or 0.9%, to end the session at 4,518, while Nasdaq rose 85 points, or 0.61%, to close at 13,994. Both indexes ended their four-day losing streak.
The VIX volatility index, also known as the fear index, dove 7.8% to 15.77.
The 10-year US Treasury yield, meanwhile, fell 1% to 4.101%.
The dollar index rose 0.1% to 102.08, while the euro trimmed 0.1% to $1.1001 against the greenback.
Precious metals were also in negative territory, with gold losing 0.1% to $1,936 per ounce and silver decreasing 2.2% to $23.11.
Oil prices lost around 0.3%, with global benchmark Brent crude at $85.89 per barrel and US benchmark West Texas Intermediate at $82.55.
