ISTANBUL (AA) - The Dow Jones and the S&P 500 closed Friday at new record levels.
The Dow Jones industrial average added 62.42 points, or 0.16%, to finish at 39,131.53. The blue-chip index gained 1.3% this week.
The S&P 500 rose 1.77 points, or 0.03%, to close at an all-time high of 5,088.80. For the week, the index increased 1.66%.
The Nasdaq, on the other hand, fell 44.80 points, or 0.28%, to end the session at 16,118. But the tech-heavy index posted a gain of 1.4% for the week.
The VIX volatility index, also known as the fear index, fell 5.4% to 13.75. The 10-year US Treasury yield lost 1.8% to 4.247%.
The dollar index was unchanged at 103.96, while the euro trimmed 0.02% to $1.0821 against the greenback.
Precious metals posted gains, with gold rising 0.6% to $2,036 per ounce and silver increasing 0.8% to $22.94.
Oil prices fell more than 2%, with global benchmark Brent crude losing 2.37% to $81.69 per barrel and US benchmark West Texas Intermediate crude diving 2.6% to $76.56.
