DUBAI (AA) - The Dubai airports authority on Wednesday said it faces "operational challenges" due to the ongoing adverse weather conditions hitting the country.
In a statement cited by the Emirati state news agency, the Dubai Airports said passengers are facing difficulties in reaching the airport, while others are unable to leave the airport because of the floods and road conditions.
It also advised passengers not to come to the airports, unless absolutely necessary due to unprecedented weather conditions.
"Flights continue to be delayed and diverted. Passengers are advised to contact their respective airlines for the latest information on flight status," the statement added.
It also noted that the Dubai Airports "are working hard to recover operations as quickly as possible in very challenging conditions."
On Tuesday, the Emirati National Center of Meteorology said in a statement that the United Arab Emirates this week saw its heaviest downpour in the last 75 years.
The weather conditions caused disruptions in the means of transportation to and from the airports across the UAE.
The UAE's National Committee for Emergency Management urged residents to stay at home and follow safety guidelines, and only to leave home in cases of extreme necessity.
