ANKARA (AA) - Thomas Krol from the Netherlands on Friday became an Olympic champion in men's 1,000-meter speedskating at Beijing 2022.
Krol, 29, won the race at National Speed Skating Oval with a time of 1 minute, 7.92 seconds to bag a gold medal.
It is his second medal at the 2022 Winter Games.
Krol previously won a silver in the men's 1,500-meter event on Feb. 8.
Canada's Laurent Dubreuil brought home an Olympic silver, completing the race in the second spot with a time of 1:08:32.
Haavard Holmefjord Lorentzen came third to be awarded a bronze medal.
The Norwegian speedskater was 0.56 seconds behind the gold medalist.
The 2022 Winter Games will run through Feb. 20.
