ANKARA (AA) - The English Football Federation on Tuesday unanimously nominated Debbie Hewitt as their first woman president.
Hewitt's candidacy will be approved at the federation council meeting on July 22 and she will take office in January 2022, according to a statement.
With a passion for football since a young age, Hewitt said she was looking forward to her new position.
Greg Clarke resigned from the presidency in November 2020 after making discriminatory remarks at an online meeting in the UK Parliament.
Hewitt will be the first woman to lead the federation in its 157-year history.
