English Premier League club Brentford on Thursday signed midfielder Yunus Emre Konak from Türkiye's EMS Yapi Sivasspor.
"Brentford have completed the signing of Turkey Under-21 international Yunus Emre Konak from Sivasspor, subject to international clearance; he put pen to paper on a contract until June 2029, with an option of a further year's extension," the English club said in a statement.
Defensive midfielder Konak, who turned 18 on Wednesday, is Brentford's first signing of the January transfer window. This season he played 17 matches for Sivasspor.
"Our recruitment team did a fantastic job to enable us to move quickly and secure his signature. We look forward to working with Yunus and, hopefully, he can progress into the first team in due course," Brentford Director of Football Phil Giles said.
Yunus in a video said he is "so happy" to be a Brentford player. "Come on you Bees!" he added.
In 2023, The Guardian named him one of the best 60 young talents in world football born in 2006.
