ANKARA (AA) - Everton shocked English Premier League leaders Arsenal 1-0 in a Saturday home match in Liverpool.
English defender James Tarkowski scored a header at far post after a corner kick in the 60th minute at Goodison Park, and this was the winning goal.
It was a morale-boosting win for the Toffees, who are close to the relegation zone in standings.
This was also Sean Dyche's first victory as the Everton head coach. The 51-year-old was hired on Monday.
Everton have 18 points in the league to be in lower ranks, and will visit archrivals Liverpool at the Anfield on Feb. 13.
The Gunners, who lost after 13 matches in the league, have 50 points in 20 matches, while second-placed Manchester City have 45 points.
Arsenal will next face Brentford in a home match on Feb. 11.
