ANKARA (AA) - The English Premier League announced Monday that a record 90 players and staff tested positive for COVID-19 in the past week.
"The League can today confirm that between Monday 13 December and Sunday 19 December, a record 12,345 COVID-19 tests were administered on players and club staff. Of these, there were 90 new positive cases," it said on its website.
The latest figure was more than double the tally from testing results for Dec. 6-12, when the league said 42 people tested positive.
The Premier League recently reverted to emergency COVID-19 measures, including protocols such as more frequent testing, wearing face coverings while indoors and observing social distancing after the recent rise in infections across the country.
