ISTANBUL (AA) - Newcastle United confirmed Sunday the signing of winger Anthony Gordon from Everton on a long-term deal.
"Since I heard of the interest, I was always convinced Newcastle were for me," Gordon said after the signing ceremony.
"I think the fan base and the city really suits me as a person, the way the team are playing under the gaffer at the minute really suits me, and the club just look like they're heading in the right direction," he added.
The 21-year-old produced seven goals and eight assists in 78 matches for Everton.
According to Sky Sports, Gordon joined Newcastle in a £45-million [some $55 million] deal from Toffees with a potential £5 million ($6.1million) in add-ons.
The long-term contract made him the Premier League club's second most expensive transfer.
