ATHENS (AA) – The EU on Monday denounced the Russian air attacks on Ukrainian cities, which Russia later denied, including allegations of a strike on Kyiv's largest children's hospital.
"Today's air attacks have killed and wounded dozens, and destroyed Kyiv’s largest children hospital, Okhmatdyt," the union’s foreign policy chief Josep Borrell said on X.
Stressing that Ukraine needs air defense systems "now" to counter such attacks, he added: "All responsible for Russian war crimes will be held to account".
Borrell also accused Russia of keeping "ruthlessly targeting Ukrainian civilians".
Earlier in the day, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy accused Russia of striking the children's hospital in Kyiv. However, the Russian Defense Ministry later rejected Ukraine's claims about a strike on the hospital.
