ANKARA (AA) - Euro area retail sales rose on a monthly basis in November after witnessing a decline in October, according to data released on Friday.
The volume of retail trade in the euro area increased 0.8% from a month earlier, following a downwardly revised 1.5% decline in October, the Eurostat data showed.
Sales of non-food products and automotive fuel grew 1.6% and 1%, respectively, from the previous month.
On the other hand, food, drinks and tobacco sales fell 0.9% in November.
On an annual basis, retail sales in the single-currency zone narrowed by 2.8% from November 2021.
For the EU, retail sales also climbed 0.9% in November from a month ago.
Among the 27-member bloc, Spain registered the largest monthly hike with 3.6%, followed by Poland with 2.6% and Sweden with 2.3%.
The largest declines were seen in Luxembourg (minus 2.0%), France and Croatia (both minus 1.0%) and Slovenia (minus 0.5%).
Compared to a year ago, the EU's retail sales dropped 2.4% in November 2022, data showed.
