European exchanges fall around 1% to close Monday lower

Italy’s FTSE MIB performs worst, falling 1.39%

ISTANBUL (AA) – European stock exchanges fell around 1% each to close with losses on Monday as they kicked off the month of October on a lower note.

The STOXX Europe 600, which includes around 90% of the market capitalization of the European markets in 17 countries, was down 4.63 points, or 1.03%, at 445.59.

The UK’s FTSE 100 decreased 97 points, or 1.28%, to close at 7,510. Germany’s DAX 30 lost 139 points, or 0.91%, to finish the day at 15,247.

France’s CAC 40 fell 66 points, or 0.94%, to 7,068, while Spain’s IBEX 35 declined 109 points, or 1.16%, to end the first trading day of the week at 9,319.

Italy’s FTSE MIB was the worst performer of the day, decreasing 393 points, or 1.39%, to 27,849 at the closing bell.
