European markets lose more than 3% with Russian attack on Ukraine

Italy's FTSE MIB performs worst, falling 4.15%

ANKARA (AA) - European stocks plummeted Thursday as indices fell more than 3% after Russia attacked Ukraine.

The STOXX Europe 600, which includes around 90% of the market capitalization of the European market in 17 countries, fell 14.87 points, or 3.28%, to close flat at 438.99.

London's FTSE 100 lost 291 points, or 3.88%, to end the day at 7,207. Germany's DAX 30 declined almost 580 points, or 3.96%, to 14,052.

France's CAC 40 was off almost 260 points, or 3.83%, to close at 6,521. Spain's IBEX 35 declined 241 points, or 2.86%, to finish at 8,198.

Italy's FTSE MIB was the worst performer of the day, falling 1,077 points, or 4.15%, to finish at 24,877.
