European stock markets close lower

France's CAC 40 does the worst, falling 0.7%

ANKARA (AA) - European stock markets closed lower on Monday, continuing last week's weak trend.

The STOXX Europe 600, which includes around 90% of the market capitalization of the European market in 17 countries, fell 2.03, or 0.43%, to 473.53 points.

London's FTSE 100 lost 60 points, or 0.83%, to end at 7,231, while Germany's DAX 30 was off almost 2 points, or 0.01%, to 15,621.

France's CAC 40 was the worst performer of the day, falling 48 points, or 0.7%, to 6,942.

Italy's FTSE MIB 30 lost 170 points, or 0.64%, to end the day at 26,551.

Spain's IBEX 35 declined 37 points, or 0.45%, to close at 8,322.
