London's FTSE 100 worst performer of day, falling by 0.55%

ANKARA (AA) - Major European stock markets closed Tuesday in negative territory.

The STOXX Europe 600, which includes around 90% of the market capitalization of the European market in 17 countries, decreased by 1.6 points, or 0.35%, to 456 points.

London's FTSE 100 was the worst performer of the day, falling by 41.7 points, or 0.55%, to finish at 7,576.

Germany's DAX 30 slipped 67.8 points, or 0.48%, to end the day at 14,124, while France's CAC 40 was down 18.4 points, or 0.28%, to 6,537.

Germany's economic sentiment deteriorates in April, plummeting to minus 41.0, according to the Leibniz Centre for European Economic Research (ZEW) on Tuesday.

The annual consumer inflation rate in Germany reached 7.3% in March, the highest since 1981, the Federal Statistical Office's (Destatis) data showed on Tuesday.

Italy's FTSE MIB declined 82.2 points, or 0.33%, to close at 24,667.

Spain's IBEX 35 posted a slight drop of 7 points or 0.08%, to 8,578.

Meanwhile, Turkiye's benchmark stock index Borsa Istanbul gained 0.6% to close at a new record high level of 2,463.76 points on Tuesday.
