ANKARA (AA) – European stock exchanges were lower at Wednesday's open amid renewed energy crisis in Europe and recession fears.
Nord Stream pipelines which supply gas to Europe from Russia via the Baltic Sea were damaged on Tuesday in suspected sabotage.
The STOXX Europe 600, which includes around 90% of the market capitalization of the European market in 17 countries, was down 0.34% to 386.9 points.
The UK’s FTSE 100 index decreased 0.68% to 6,937 points and Germany’s DAX 30 slipped 0.99% to 12,019.
France’s CAC 40 fell 1.04% to open the day at 5,693 points, while Spain’s IBEX 35 declined 0.73% to 7,391 points.
Italy's FTSE MIB dove 0.83% to 20,788 on Wednesday.
