European stocks close Monday lower on rising Russia-Ukraine tensions

All major indices in Europe close day with significant losses

ANKARA (AA) - Mounting tensions between Russia and the West over Ukraine hit European stock markets at Monday's close.

The STOXX Europe 600, which includes around 90% of the market capitalization of the European market in 17 countries, lost 6 points, or 1.30%, to close at 454.81 points on Monday.

Britain's FTSE 100 index ended at 7,484.33, falling 29.3 points, or 0.39%.

Germany's DAX 30 fell the most at the close, down 2.07%, or 311.4 points, to 14,731.12 points.

France's CAC 40 dove 2.04%, or 141.3 points, to 6,788.34 points.

Italy's FTSE MIB slipped 456.8 points, or 1.72%, to close at 26,050.03 points, while Spain's IBEX 35 lost 101.1 points, or 1.18%, at 8,488.9 points.

Turkiye's BIST 100 index closed at 2,038.06 points, rising 0.28% or 5.6 points from the previous close.
