European Women’s Boxing Championships to begin in Montenegro

9 Turkish boxers to compete in Budva from Oct. 14 - 22

ISTANBUL (AA) - The European Women’s Boxing Championships will begin Friday in Montenegro with 164 boxers from 31 countries competing in 12 weight categories.

"The first competition day of the upcoming EUBC (European Boxing Confederation) European Women’s Boxing Championships is October 14 while the finals are scheduled to take place on October 22," organizers said in a statement.

"The competition will return to the boxing agenda after three years of break with record number of boxers on the board," it added.

Female boxers will compete in 12 weight categories from the minimum weight of 48 kilograms (106 pounds) up to heavyweight or more than 81 kilograms (179 pounds). Nine Turkish athletes will get in the ring in Montenegro’s port in Budva.

The first European Women’s Boxing Championships was held in France in 2001. The last was in Spain in 2019 for elite women boxers.
