ISTANBUL (AA) - The European Union's current account balance posted a surplus of €73 billion ($77 billion) in the second quarter of this year, the 27-member bloc's statistical department announced on Thursday.
The balance saw a surplus of €60.6 billion in the first quarter of 2023 and a deficit of €32.6 billion in the second quarter of last year, Eurostat said
Eurostat said the union saw an increase in the goods account while it dropped in the services account.
"The surplus of the primary income account increased and the deficit of the secondary income account decreased," it noted.
During the same period, the deficit of the capital account also decreased, it added.
