ISTANBUL (AA) – Raw material consumption in the European Union (EU) fell 5% to 14.1 tons per capita in 2023 versus 2018, according to Eurostat on Wednesday.
Among all input materials, the share of secondary raw materials in the economy remained unchanged at 11.5% in 2022 since 2017.
In 2021, the gross value added in environmental goods and services sector climbed from 2.24% in 2016 to 2.52% of GDP.
The European Commission’s Sustainable Development Goals’ responsible consumption and production (SDG 12) goal requires the acquisition of sustainable practices for businesses, while promoting sustainable policies to be made by lawmakers and an environmentally aware lifestyles of customers.
