ANKARA (AA) - Everton scored second-half goals to mount a comeback 2-1 win against Arsenal in an English Premier League match Monday.
Demarai Gray netted the winner in injury time by firing a vicious right-footed strike from outside the box.
Near the end of the first half at Everton's home stadium Goodison Park, Arsenal scored the opener as Norwegian midfielder Martin Odegaard ran into the Toffees’ box and was unmarked to finish with a left-footed volley.
Arsenal full-back Kieran Tierney crossed from the left flank to find Odegaard.
Everton waited for over 30 minutes for an equalizer.
In the 79th minute, Gray's shot hit the crossbar but Brazilian forward Richarlison followed the rebound to score a header, making it 1-1.
English winger Gray, who was later selected as the man of the match for his efforts, made the result 2-1 for Everton in the 92nd minute.
Gray was challenged by Gunners defender Benjamin White but dribbled to score a bullet that hit the bar and went inside.
Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale desperately watched the screamer.
Victors Everton rose to 12th spot in the standings with 18 points in 15 matches.
Seventh-place Arsenal have 23 points to follow Manchester United, who have collected 24 points to come in sixth.
The Premier League's top spots have seen relentless competition this season as Manchester City are leading the top-flight division with 35 points.
Man City are currently battling title contenders Liverpool and Chelsea.
Second-place Liverpool have racked up 34 points, and Chelsea, who are in third position, have 33 points to be hot on Liverpool's trail in the 2021-22 domestic campaign.
