ISTANBUL (AA) - Former Morocco and Olympique Marseille player Abdelaziz Barrada died at 35 on Friday.
"Abdelaziz Olympique de Marseille is saddened to learn of the passing of its former player and Moroccan international, Abdelaziz Barrada," Olympique Marseille said in a statement.
"Having arrived in the summer of 2014, the attacking midfielder wore OM's colors for two seasons. Olympique de Marseille extends its sincere condolences to his family and loved ones," it added.
No official cause of death has been confirmed.
Barrada has 28 caps, scoring four goals for Morocco between 2012 and 2015.
He formerly played for Spain's Getafe, United Arab Emirates’ Al-Nasr, Türkiye's Antalyaspor, and Qatar's Al-Shahania SC before retiring in 2021.
Following the death of Barrada, the Royal Moroccan Football Federation shared a condolence message, saying "May God have mercy on the deceased, and to God we belong, and to Him we shall return."
