ISTANBUL (AA) – Bad winter weather in Turkey’s largest province has hit flights and ferry services on Friday.

Several airlines cancelled dozens of flights from Ataturk and Sabiha Gokcen airports due to poor weather condition in the city.

Turkish Airlines passengers can go to www.turkishairlines.com or ring the airline's call center on +90 212 444 0 849 to follow up the latest updates about their flights.

Fast ferry and inter-city sea-bus services have also been affected by the weather. Istanbul's Fast Ferry and Sea Bus Company, or IDO, announced that it had cancelled all its inter-city services on late Friday.

Traffic was affected in many areas. At least 11 trucks toppled on the country's busiest highway TEM, resulting in traffic backed up for miles.

The Turkish meteorological department also warned that heavy storms and severe winter would continue on Saturday.
