VILNIUS, Lithuania (AA) - Trakai Castle, located on an island in Lake Galve, Lithuania holds a prestigious position on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
It also stands out as the sole castle constructed within a lake in Eastern Europe.
Originally built in the 14th century for military purpose, it has now been converted into a museum.
Visitors can reach the castle, located 28 kilometers (17.39 miles) away from the capital city of Vilnius, via boats or through a wooden bridge.
Both local and international tourists frequently opt to explore the scenic surroundings of the lake through leisurely walks, while others enjoy engaging in lake-related activities.
