PARIS (AA) — The French government on Wednesday dissolved the far-right Citadelle Association, citing its role in fueling hostility towards foreigners.
Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin made the announcement in a statement on the X, revealing that it came after a decree issued in a morning Cabinet meeting under the directive of President Emmanuel Macron.
Darmanin said the group was dissolved on the grounds that it fueled xenophobia and discrimination.
He said it directed citizens towards violence and hatred.
