ANKARA (AA) - Mercedes' Finnish driver Valtteri Bottas will move to Alfa Romeo next season, the Formula 1 team said on Monday.
"Breaking news! Valtteri Bottas will join Alfa Romeo Racing ORLEN for the 2022 season and beyond, with the Finnish driver signing a multi-year deal with the Hinwil-based team," Alfa Romeo said on Twitter.
The 32-year-old will leave Mercedes once the 2021 season ends after the Round 22 – Abu Dhabi Grand Prix 2021 – on Dec. 12.
Still having a valid contract with Mercedes, Bottas has been a member of the "Silver Arrows" in 2017-2021 to partner with British star Lewis Hamilton.
In his four-season spell with Mercedes, Bottas helped his team win four constructors' championships and bagged nine wins.
He also made 53 podiums as a Mercedes racer.
