Firefighters Thursday extinguished the fire that started at a church in France’s northern city of Rouen, according to media reports.
Rouen Mayor Nicolas Mayer-Rossignol announced on X at noon that a fire started at the spire of the cathedral, with its causes being unknown.
After almost an hour of intervention, 70 firefighters managed to contain the flames at the spire that was under construction.
Director of the firefighting department, Stephane Gouezec, told broadcaster BFMTV that the chances of the flames spreading were low.
