ANKARA (AA) - Turkish Super Lig title contenders Galatasaray defeated Aytemiz Alanyaspor in the quarterfinals of the Turkish Cup but the reigning champs were eliminated on the away goal rule.
Emre Akbaba goal and Adem Buyuk's two scores were not enough for Galatasaray to move to the semifinals.
Yacine Bammou of Morocco had the only score for the away team in the match Wednesday.
Brazil's right-back Mariano received a red card in stoppage time as Galatasaray ended the game with 10 players.
Alanyaspor beat defending champions Galatasaray 2-0 in the first-leg match in Alanya.
