ISTANBUL (AA) – Germany’s World Cup-winner Mario Gotze has joined Dutch team PSV Eindhoven on a two-year deal, the club announced on Tuesday.
Gotze, whose contract with Borussia Dortmund expired this year, moved to the Dutch club on a free transfer.
“I kept on training and got myself fit for the new adventure. I am looking forward to joining my new team mates for full training and preparing myself for the upcoming fixtures,” the 28-year-old said in a statement.
“I had a lot of offers this summer but I am a man of feeling and make my own decisions. I feel I am ready for a very different challenge and I am confident that this should be a very comfortable transition for me.”
Gotze rose to global fame with his winning goal for Germany in the 2014 World Cup final against Argentina.
The attacking midfielder has also played for Bayern Munich, winning one FIFA Club World Cup, one UEFA Super Cup, and three Bundesliga titles with the German giants.
