ANKARA (AA) - American club LA Galaxy on Tuesday announced the signing of Mexican striker Javier “Chicharito” Hernandez from Sevilla of Spain.
"LA Galaxy have signed Javier “Chicharito” Hernandez to a Designated Player contract," the club said in a statement.
Hernandez, 31, is Mexico’s all-time leading goal scorer and joins the LA Galaxy after his stint with Chivas de Guadalajara, Manchester United, Real Madrid, Bayer Leverkusen, West Ham and most recently, Sevilla.
"Javier has consistently scored goals in top leagues throughout the world and has been his country’s most successful player over the last decade,” LA Galaxy's general manager Dennis te Kloese said.
"We are excited to bring Javier to Los Angeles and we look forward to him representing this city and our fans as a member of the LA Galaxy."
He scored 156 goals in 422 matches during his club career.
Hernandez produced 4 goals in 17 matches this season with the La Liga club Sevilla.
He also became a Mexico's all-time top scorer with 52 goals in 109 matches.
"I’m arriving with the best club in MLS, so I’m very excited about this. I’m simply ready to finally put the shirt on," Hernandez said.
“I want to achieve a lot of things with the LA Galaxy because that’s what prove and show," he added.
