ANKARA (AA) - English Premier League team Chelsea announced that the club has appointed its former player Frank Lampard as a manager until the end of 2021-2022 season.
“One of the greatest players in our history during his long and illustrious career, Lampard returns to Stamford Bridge having signed a three-year contract,” the Premier League club said in a statement on its website on Thursday.
During his career, Frank Lampard made 640 appearances and scored 209 goals with Chelsea.
The 41-year old head coach managed English second tier club Derby County in 2018-2019 season and the club advanced to the Championship play-offs.
However, the team lost the play-off final against Aston Villa 2-1 and missed the chance to play in Premier League this season.
