ANKARA (AA) - English football team Manchester City's forward Sergio Aguero underwent surgery on his left knee.
"Everything went well, and I'll soon begin recovery. A big thanks to Dr Cugat and his team – and to all of you for your support," Aguero said on Twitter.
On Monday, the Argentine forward was substituted over a knee injury during the 5-0 victory against Burnley in the Premier League match.
Separately, Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola had announced in a statement that Aguero traveled to Barcelona after his knee injury.
"After that, we don't know when he will come back and join us," Guardiola added on the club's website.
Aguero, 32, has been playing for the English side since July 2011.
Scoring 177 goals, he comes fourth in the Premier League's top scorer list of all time.
