ANKARA (AA) – Turkish Super Lig champions Medipol Basaksehir on Thursday extended Slovakian defender Martin Skrtel’s contract for a year.
In a statement, the Istanbul team said the 35-year-old defender will play for them in the 2020-21 season.
The club said it was happy to retain Skrtel and hailed his “contributions through his experience and leadership.”
The former Liverpool and Fenerbahce center-back scored three goals in 20 Super Lig appearances during Basaksehir’s title-winning 2019-20 season.
